The 10th International Congress of SPIC-EGYPT

Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) organized a scientific congress in collaboration with the Egyptian Society of Practitioners of Infection Control (SPIC) – Egypt and the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) entitled “Antimicrobial Challenges and Strategic Planning” at the National Training Institute of the Ministry of Health during the period 10-11 April, 2019. The congress was under the auspices of Prof. Jean Jabbour, WHO Representative, Country Office and Prof. Wafaa Kandeel, TBRI President. The conference included lectures on antibiotic policy at TBRI for 15 years, resistance of HCV to anti-viruses and how to prevent, the emergence of Multi-drug Resistant Bacteria: How to treat and the role of daily nursing in the implementation of the antibiotic policy in hospitals. Prof. Hala Badawi, Professor of Medical Microbiology and Infection Control Consultant, TBRI explained the conference recommendations that focused on; rationalizing the use of antibiotics, continuous training of doctors and nurses, creation of antimicrobial stewardship teams to control the use of antibiotics in hospitals, issuing a guide to control infections and the bundle of antibiotics, as well as the establishment of several workshops to activate the role of infection control in hospitals.
